Who We Are

The Association of Experimental Rocketry of the Pacific (AERO-PAC) is the Northern California and Northern Nevada prefecture of the Tripoli Rocketry Association. We hold three high-power rocketry launches a year at our launch site in the Black Rock Desert.

AERO-PAC has a long history and launches in the best place for rockets. We welcome all Tripoli and N.A.R. members to our launches. If you haven't been to the Black Rock Desert, you really owe it to yourself to see this spectacular natural wonder, the largest flat piece of land on earth, and bring your rockets!

We hold four launches on three weekends a year. Traditionally, three of the launches are held under Tripoli certified launch rules and one, our Black Rock EX, launch is a Tripoli experimental launch. In 2001, we held two EX launches (adding MudRoc EX in June) and may continue this in coming years. See our launch schedule for this year's dates.

AERO-PAC History

Founded 1989 by Bill Lewis,  the Association of Experimental Rocketry of the Pacific (AERO-PAC) is currently the Northern California and Northern Nevada prefecture of the Tripoli Rocketry Association. However, AERO-PAC predates its involvement with Tripoli and has roots in the earliest times of high-power rocketry.

Soon...real soon, a timeline of AERO-PACs history will fill these pages but in the mean time, your best bet is to review the Newsletters or visit the Internet Archives of old AERO-PAC Web Sites.
